Hello and thank's for a usefull Forum.
I just bought a new 2'nd handed Discovery for my wife, and she loves the car???
There was now user manual in the car, and I have a question about locksystem of the gearshift system.
Normaly it on cars with automaitc gear, it's not poosible to take out the key if its not in Park.
On my wife's car its possible.
Is this right??????
Next question, how do I get these car i low gear??
It feels very hard and I have not taken the chance with using the gearshifter too hard.
Is there a special procedure for changing between high and low gaer????

If I remember right you have to select neutral before selecting low or high range, that's the way the hand over sales guy showed me.

i have a Disco 2 V8 auto and believe i can take the key from the ignition no mater where the gear lever is.
As for High ratio to low ratio the manual says something along the lines that as you slow down to a stop you need to select neutral then low ratio.
Hope this helps, there should be a sticker in front of the high/low lever which explains the procedure.

Thanks a lot, I'll try this once more.
I was afraid to be too hard with the gearshifter and thought it might be something wrong because I could take ot the ignition key even when i was stoped in D (drive).

you can take the key out what ever gear that you are in D /R/ N/1/ 2/ 3 / thats normal as for the high low gear change i put mine in N with the engine running seams to go in easier but you can do it when traveling but you have to drop your speed to about 5 miles per hour hope this helps you

Be aware that if the only time your disco has been "off road" is in a supermarket carpark, the high low range lever linkage may be seized !

Thank's a lot, it worked.
My Wifes Discovery is a 2'nd handed imported from Switzerland, and the manual was in German.:)
