View Full Version : Optimum diameter 200Tdi exhaust?

Hi all,
I need to install a complete exhaust in a 200Tdi Hybrid. What diameter pipe is best for this? Would I benefit installing a central cherrybomb type silencer or are there other choices worth looking at? I guess there must be some kind of silencer legally speaking?

The engine is standard at this time, but I would like to install an ALLARD or ALLISPORT intercooler in the future and modify the fuelling to suite. I do not plan to boost turbo pressures. I mention this for completeness.

Because it is a hybrid. I can also specify a path for the exhaust to take. Is it worth diverting the exhaust exit point from the normal OSR wheel arch of a series 3 to something that comes straight out the back? There is a near 90 degree turn of pipe as it tries to exhaust from the wheel arch.

Any advise apreciated. The exhaust is going to be strainless. but limited in available diameters.

I dont think going much bigger than std will make much difference as the turbo is going to throttle exhaust flow regardless of size, measure a TD5 pipe as you will have similiar power when tweaked so should be a good benchmark.

If you are going to do any disctance work in it you may regret the lack of silencing, i removed the centre box on my last 300tdi and after a couple days i had to refit it the noise in the cabin was a pain in the butt and made no difference to the power at all.
