Hello all I've been registered since Nov 2001, but only just got around to posting. Not because I'm shy or anything :p .Just been busy doing other things. Ive been putting a V6 Ford Essex lump in my S3 SWB since Apr 2002 :dunno1: I have promissed myself that I will finish it soon honest.

Kev,
Somehow I missed this thread last week. Anyway welcome aboard. I'd be interested to see some pictures of your V6 conversion as me and my brothers own (amongst others) a SWB s2a with a 2.8 Ford in it.
Steve
2.8 will be the cologne engine like i have in my hearse

I'm no expert so I'll take your word for it. I think was out a Mk2 Granada though as it runs on carbs.
Makes the little 2a sound cool and give a decent turn of speed.
btw... your hearse is so cool (I wish I was 15 years younger), I've often fancied a DS420 Hearse. Saw a way cool one once in Newquay at Run to the Sun. It was a 420 Hearse with straight thru' pipes and wire wheels... looked and sounded the dogs!

Sorry for my little outburst, just I'm getting fed up with having my knee in plaster, it has been for the last 9 weeks, since I got run over in Mull ( but thats another story :p )
Any way it's a 3 litre Essex engine from a transit ambulance, with unleaded heads and running on gas. I havent got any pics of the conversion yet, but will do soon I hope when get back mobile. So here goes with a couple of pics before the conversion.

Kev
Nice the Essex is the better of the Ford V6's as it has more low down grunt the cologne is far more revvy, However much more expensive to tune, Pistons for the essex v6 are dearer than set for a rover v8,
Will sound great though
SI the Cologne engine u have has fibe timing gear so watch out, It wll prob be a mkII granny lump although mine runs on carbs alot of MkII grannys were injection (yep even back then)
BTW did u know th 24v V6 from late model scorpio's built by cosworth are a direct replacement for the cologone, MMMMmmm u can twin turbo those,
As for ur Essex Lump Kev only way to go for big power is a supercharger, There was an over bored 3.1 Essex with supercharger, not even run in for £750 the other month in custom car, now that would make ur series Rapid

It's ok Owen I think that the 150 bhp I've got now is enough compared to the 52 I had before, and yes I have put a Salibury axle on the back with a S2 gearbox so it should last a bit longer :derr: Well I hope any way
Hope brakes are high on ur list of priority's
and it will fly

Well I do have LWB drums all round and a 110 master cylinder and servo, although a pair of disks will be the order of the day I think? :p
