I have tried to search the net but I cannot find an answer for these questions:

I have found oil in my injector harness plugs and the ecu. What I would like to know, is could this be linked to the continuous problem that I have with the 3 amigos? Does the TC/ABS/HDC systen pass through the ECU, or is it totally seperate?

Secondly, If I clean the ECU, how do I do it? Can I simply unplug all the plugs and remove it, clean it and replace it?

Thanks for the help.

No link that I'm aware of between the three amigos and the engine ECU.

To clean the oil in harness problem, remove plugs at both ends and spray the sockets and plug liberally with carb. cleaner. I split my ECU to clean the inside and it was spotless. In fact, I can't see how oil can get in as the socket and covers are hermetically sealed to stop ANY water ingress.

Eventually got the harness replaced when the car started miss-firing. As it turned out, the miss-fire was caused by knackered injector :(

Good luck.

No its 2 seperate probs

Remove rocker cover and fit new style loom less than £40 from landrover, carb cleaner very aggressive better to use brake cleaner.

To clean ecu look at the bottom and there are two drain holes spray the brake cleaner in and if it comes out clean its okay.

I have heard of several ecu dripping with oil and all were ok after cleaning

Remove the red plug from the ecu once a month for a few months and clean and after a while the oil stops completely.

The three lights are called the 3 amigos:D and are usually down to a failed abs sensor, will need plugging in to a computer.

The Nanocom is now out and can speak to the engine, abs,sls and soon the rest of the car, cost £200 Bearmach, see Nanocom TD5 website.

Look at Discoweb.org lots of info on there.

Carb cleaner has a (much) higher alcohol content, so suits me better, hic!

Best degreaser I've come across, but keep it off any plastic.

TD5 engine loom on e-bay new last time i looked £30! thats the main loom not the inj loom.

If you remove the red plug once a month the remains of the oil in the main engine loom eventually stop coming out.

Carb cleaners for poofs you want to have a sniff of acetone:D which is what most women use as nail polish remover.
