HELP Power steering Box td5 dico 51 reg

Hi,

New to all this! My Disco has been to garage today and am told power steering box has sprung a leak!! ( Was losing power steering fluid and making strange noises so went in)

They say need to fit a new steering box! ( Recon fitted costing £350 inc VAT ) Could I not just use a seals kit?

Would I be able to do this myself? How difficult is it? or am I better with recon one!!

You can get the seals, but fitting them is a pain (apparently) as there is a very strong spring inside which has a habit of exiting at the wrong moment and causing you some damage!

From looking at the Rave disk, removing the thing is a bit involved. Recently adjusted mine, and that was bad enough as getting access to it is a real pain. Much easier on the 300Tdi. But then, everything is:(
