My parents have a house in the Loire Valley and one of our neighbours had a 9mm shotgun - with a brass cartridge. Does anyone know if you need a licence to buy one of these over there? I'm assuming that you'd need a shotgun ticket in the UK to own one

According to this website the cartridges are obsolete and have to be made individually (expensive) Apparently the gun is a collectors item.

:)Hello Spandit, I do not know about the French law, but can assure you that if this gun is like the Garden Guns in England eg. No.3 Garden Gun 9mm rim-fire, they can not be held on a shotgun certificate in England. The barrel is too short so must be covered by a FAC (fire arms certificate).

The "men in blue", took mine away 30 years ago and my mate's more recently. A 9mm rim-fire is very light weight and can be very easily converted to centre fire !:eek::eek: I think that is what concerns them. I used to nip out of school at lunch time and buy a box of either brass or chrome cartridges to shoot mice/rats in the yard at home !

No guns for me, then, by the sound of it. I'll have to invest in another air-rifle, I think. Theoben Rapid 12 would be nice :)
