hi and a merry christmas to all
the remote fob on my 300tdi sometimes works and sometimes doesnt.does anyone know firstly how you make sure you buy the right replacement as i have seen these advertised on e-bay with the same part number but the wrong coloured circuit board.also if you buy these do they have to be re programmed by a dealer?
this is a grey area for me as im not into electronics and i dont want to waste money on the wrong bits ,so any help would be gratefully recieved.
thanks dave:greensant:greensant

Seasonal greetings Dave.

Firstly, if you have the two button remote, check to ensure the battery locating lug hasn't come loose on the circuit board. This little metal cage also forms the negative contact from the battery and often the soldered joint on the cicuit board breaks away and makes the use of the remote very intermittant.;)

Resoldering is the best fix but if you pack the inside of the remote casing with a little thin card, this will put pressure onto the battery terminal and improve the contact. Mine has had a piece of cornflake box in there to act as a packer for months and has worked perfectly well.:D

Secondly, any other remote unit bought after market would need programming to your own vehicle, even if you buy one from an LR main dealer.;)

I'd try the card packer first off, you never know.
