Hello everybody ! Another "snails eater" frenchy on the forum.
And of course, british cars amateurs.
Thanx to my Friend Fred V which makes me discover this forum.
I'm fond of Range Rovers which is still for me a fantastic vehicle, even if I discovered that sometimes... a few problems can appear. And for these three years of RR passion, i'm discovering all the mysteries which are hidden under the bonnet...
My other passion is 70's rock'n'roll... And walking in London, place where I'm used to do my annual "pèlerinage" and see how a town can be a fantastic shelter of the most beautiful cars. English people are so different from here when they have a steering wheel in their hands. So thank you for hospitality.

Bébel,
Welcome to the Forum. I didn't know any French people made a pilgrimage to London.. I though you all went south to the Mediterranean Sea!

Maybe it's not unusual to hear somebody talking about its pilgrimage in London, but, when you're fond of rock'n'roll and british cars, there's no other place to go...
And, as far as I remember, when I'm travelling to London, i've always felt as I'm at home. I haven't got any explanation for this !
The bands and the concerts are so different from french's, and, even if American people invented rock, we are oblige to recognise that british bands shows how they learn from them, and how the pupils overtook the masters !
Well, and, talking about the south of France and the Mediterranean shore, I though that somme towns were... english !:p
See you ! :yay:

Okay so here's one of my favourite British cars... If you came to London in the 1970's and early 1980's you would see many of these as they were used by the Police.

Of course I remember this car, Rover 3500 PI, with the 3.5 liter V8 engine ! Strange and beautiful car, whith the spare wheel on the boot !
But I remember, also during the 80's, the horrible Austin princess :p
And, of course, when you're walking in London, you can see at the same crossfire a Land 110 V8, a Lotus Elise, a E Type, an Autin Healey, and, of course, normal cars... Something that happens really often there and.. never here in Paris (people a more fond of Porsche, common jags, BMWs and Ferraris...)...
And the last police cars I saw In London when I was there in the last september, 1 Range Rover P38, and a Disco...
In France, you can see sometimes a few Defenders with Police writeen on it...

Welcome to the forum Bebel! I like this comment ^....
It all depends on what you consider to be normal cars.....I find things like the Ford Mundano, and all the similar little plastic blob things to be Very Abnormal indeed!
I too love to see older cars on the road, the Morris Minor, the Austin Cambridge, Wolseleys, and of course, the great Landrover! ( And the Range Rover, I guess. ) My favourite car was the Triumph Spitfire, though I doubt very much if I could fit inside one these days!
My father used to drive one of those Rovers, until the firm he worked for gave him a nice new Range Rover....complete with blue lights, and Jam Butty stripe.... :hahaha: Who wouldn't want to cruise up and down the M6 all day in one of those screams! Of course, that was in the days when they had to cruise...none of this sitting in laybys waitng to catch someone....
Enjoy the forum Bebel (sorry, can't reproduce the accent over the E!) its a good place to visit.

Well dear Fred V, it's not "exactly" a brand new Range ("hélas" as Fench people use to say), but a brand new old Range Rover, with a fantastic diesel engine and big tyres...
I have been ""punished" for six months without my V8 Range (which is still out...) but now I'm back on the muddy roads...
:yay:
And for the next dinner, I hope that it will be as fantastic as yesterday's RP Boy's Dinner in Versailles... (and with the same girls of course... You saw the photos, I suppose that you will comme next time...).
See you soon !

I like those bumpers... But, for these car, I'm not a professionnal of the right hand drive... You know, here, in France, we drive on the wrong lane... Even with a left handed drive car ! :p
And the last police Range Rover I saw was a P38... Much more elegant and original than a Peugeot 406 estate wagon or a Renault Megane...
