I have just acquired another TD4 2.0 ES Freelander 2001 having had my previous one stolen in October. As always you inherit faults. I have seen a number of threads with regards to losing power above 70 mph which mine does that refer to the EGR, Depression Limiting valve (DLV), hoses etc that could be at fault. When i stripped the EGR, manifold and DLV out i noticed they were thick of oil and cleaned them up. The inlets into the engine ports were also thick of oil. I will replace the DLV this week. I also noticed, from underneath, oil seeping out of the right hand side (looking from the rear) of the Turbocharger. My initial thoughts are that i need to replace the Turbocharger or has the oil in the manifold etc built up over a period of time as a result of perhaps overfilling and will therefore only need cleaning out to resolve the problem. There is no smoke coming out the exhaust.

I am now at a loss and any comments will be more than welcomed.

If you mean with DLV that filter on top of the engine, it might be that, if it is blocked, this is the cause of the oilproblem near the turbo. In other posts all this is described. Best is, in my opinion, to replace that filter and clean the surroundings of the turbo and check after a while whether the oil still seems to come out ?? Other, more professional advices will come later I hope.

Thanks for that. I get the parts on Friday and will fit the new DLV and clean the area around the Turbo. Keep the fingers crossed thats all it is.
