hello Land Rover enthousiasts
I am Paul from the Netherlands and I've recently bought my third Land Rover Series III, from january 1979.
This one has had many big changes:
It has an engine from BMW 635i: 3.5 liter 6 cyl., 220 pk
and a range rover automatic gearbox and full time 4WD. I had doubts whether it's a Stage1 or a modified series III because the seller said that it had a V8 before, but that does not comply with the chassis number, which tells it's been a 6 cilinder series III.
If everything has been changed later, it has been done very well, including the welding, like the cross member up front and not about 30 cm back. The bonnet also is the same as stage 1, but not the grill, which is from a 90 or 110.
It's doing very well with this engine, it goes easily 110 km/h on highway and accelarates faster than most normal cars. I don't dared to try the top speed untill now...
In (heavy) terrain it does extremely well, better than most other (asian) 4WD's, thanks to the power of the engine.
We use daily for work, take out our Saint- Bernard and once a month a day in terrain.
Well, hope you're doing well with your Landy's also and I think this is a wonderful site for land rover owners!
