Wife not amused when my map reading through Dundee took us back on road we had taken into city. It was pitch dark and snowing. Anyone invested in add-on satnav, and anything to recommend?

I got feed up with messing about with map books etc. :frown2:I bought myself an HP rz1710 PDA with sat nav cradle and put TomTom on it.:D
I have now got the best of both worlds a hand held computer and a satalite navigation system.;)
Navman - cheap and very effective.

I brought myself a TomTom, very useful espically the POI. Have tried TomTom on a PDA and it was rubbish, kept locking up so changed to an indipendant TomTom and its never gone wrong!!

i bought a navman f20 and i have no real complaints.. its taken me correctly through one way systems a few times, which is a common thing ppl complain about with sat nav and it is quick to reroute if you miss a turning etc. it isnt as fancy as other models but it does all i would want it to, which is show me the way to the place i am going.
only thing is sometimes it wont recognise a post code so i need to use the street name now and again.
i would recommend navman as well :)

Went alps/germany a couple of months ago and bought a tom tom europe xl, was extremely good and saved **** loads of arguments;), about 2000miles never made a mistake unlike me:o.
Very good screen layout net updatable, simple to use.
Halfords was the cheapest.

I still do that and I've been going to Dundee for six years  It is a nightmare to navigate, it's called the City of Discovery because every journey is a discovery :D

I got a Sony from Argos, reduced from £250 to £165, nice wide touch screen, just stick it on the dash or windscreen, then either use battery or plug into cigar lighter. Love it. Bye bye road maps! :)
