97 v8 auto Disco brake clunk

Hi all,

On occassion at start up a 'clunk' in the engine bay occurs when the key is in the ii position (ie all the dash lights). If I have my foot on the brake you can feel this clunk by way of a jolt. Doesnt happen all the time, usually when stone cold. is this normal.

Maybe the abs? The brakes also squeal a bit at times, although the pads are nice and thick front & rear.

Any comments appreciated.

If you can feel a pulse through the pedal, it will be the ABS setting it's parameters.

If your pads are fine and close you will get this effect on the first move off of the transmission, its just the pads letting go on the discs if they have been wet then dry after stopping.I think this what you mean?
