Hi guys and gals first of great forum very helpful, I have a problem with my td5. The abs light has come on took it to a local garage they said it was a faulty wheel speed sensor them had a problem with air suspesion then took it to m and m in worcester(who were excellent) they said the problem with the abs was a faulty shuttle valve. Has anybody had a similar problem and if so how much did it cost to fix as ive heard it is very expensive.

Hi, I have the same problem. The disco has been on a diagnostic when the 3 amigo's first lit up. The report from the garage says......
Placed on testbook for the ABS, TC & HDC lamps on. LHF sensor fault & shuttle valve switch. We have cleared the fault & oit has not reoccured.
It was fine for a couple of months but now the 3 amigo's are back and staying on. So is it just the shuttle valve then? Plus where can I get one from (for £30+vat) coz I can't find them on the web.
Off to check my RAVE discs to see how easy they are to replace.

Hi there.. digging up the past... my abs light is on and has been since I bought the vehicle, I was told by the person who sold it to me that the fault was in a speed sensor. This apparently is born out by the fact that the cruise control doesn't work either...
I just had a conversation with Pikes near Trowbridge who said that they would charge £55 to find out which speed sensor is at fault using their dignostics kit and then if it is the front sensor about £200 to fix and if rear possibly up to £400 - they did say without the £55 work those were merely rough guide prices...
now my question is.. could I (fairly nifty with a spanner but a bit scared of modern compulectrics) do some or all of this myself for less or am I just as well off getting them to do it... also they mentioned the rear was due to an issue with the rear sensors on '98 models and would be more money due to having to rewire form the control unit to the wheels... seems likely that may have been the subject of a recall and so if you have details so LR can do that for me under the recall I would be grateful...
