I'm planning on replacing/supplementing the existing Landrover Satnav in a Disco2 ES I'm about to buy. I'm assuming other people have done likewise but what I'm wondering is is it possible to utilise the existing external aerial on the GPS and plumbing that into the external aerial plug on the TomTom unit?
I assume the aerial has a standard plug into the back of the single DIN satnav unit....
Just a thought.
To be honest, I run a Tomtom in my RRC with heated screen and rely entirely on the built in aerial.....it locks onto signals rapidly and never loses them (unless you go into a tunnel) so I have never felt the need to run an external one........

Thanks guys. I was only thinking that as the aerial was already fitted it might be worth trying to use it :)
Probably more trouble than it's worth IMHO.

Std es sat nav no where near as good as tom tom.
My tom tom took us to the alps and back different ways and never made a mistake.
All with it just sat on the dash.

Yup, same for me - I don't have an ES though - my TomTom C710 sits on its window mount in the centre of the windscreen at the lowest level possible. What has always impressed me is the speed of re-acquisition after going through a tunnel.
I think it would be quick enough to pick up the turn onto the A13 Westbound out of the North portal of the Blackwall tunnel - which if you don't know it, is damn quick. :D
