Vibrations and noise at 50 to 70 mph

Any thoughts as to why on my 300 tdi '98 I get a vibration and noise whenever I turn the steering from staright ahead - 70 + rides like a dream. It sounds like a tyre catching - but it doesn't.

Any thoughts as to why on my 300 tdi '98 I get a vibration and noise whenever I turn the steering from staright ahead - 70 + rides like a dream. It sounds like a tyre catching - but it doesn't.

Sounds like what Eva has at the moment. Could be the bearings in one of your swivels. Eva's symptoms were massive vibrations at 65-70mph and noise whilst turning. Thought it might have been the prop to start with, then badly balanced wheels, then CV joint going, but all those only fulfilled one of the symptoms not all.

Jack up a front wheel and check for play in the bearings, Eva had quite an alarming amount of play, scary in fact!
