Be careful now, too much etc at your age can be taxing :D

Tell me about it! Some foolish friend of mine announced to the pub last night it was my birthday, about ten people proceeded to buy me 'whatever he's been drinking'.

Several measures of Glen Grant later, I floated homewards!

Happy Birthday!!! I hope you got your roast dinner - I was supposed to have roast lamb today for my birthday but SOMEONE(timbott) forgot to get said leg of lamb out of the freezer even though he was reminded yesterday morning:snarl: I feel a Chinese coming on:yay:

My celebrations involved buying a new ironing board today and having my son on mega strop mode for most of it but I am about to pour a large glass of Grants and sod the lot of them:beers: :party2:

Hope you enjoy the rest of your day.

Some birthday that turned out to be!

Went round the folks for the traditional slaughtering of the fatted calf and roasting thereof... All was well. About 5 pm it's a while before dinner is ready so father dissapears to his workshop to footer around with hell knows what. Anyroad the footering involved a gas blowtorch, and something awful happened. We don't know exactly what or how but there was an almight BANG and dad appeared out of there screaming and being chased by yellow flames. I bundled him into the kitchen where mum and my brother set about getting him under cold water. Now it's not my house, I haven't lived there for years I've no idea where the fire extinguishers are these days, however I know there's a bloody great big halon one in the back of the Rangie, so I made a dash for my car, grabbed the extinguisher and dashed back inside. By this point said workshop is well alight, not a good thing, there's meths, and hell knows what else in there, not to mention the gas still pouring from the torch. Halon beats most things and mercifully it beat that lot. I grabbed the damned blowlamp and threw it out the bedroom window into the garden.

I took dad up the local A&E, it's pretty close and I'd be there before an ambulance had got to the house, they had a look, gave him some painkillers and bundled him into a white taxi with blue lights on the top to take him to St Johns in Livingston, which is the nearest burns unit, and there he remains for at least a couple of weeks.

Not my best birthday every but certainly the most memorable.

Ouch! sounds like your old man got it lucky [or not] having the family at hand in his time of need.
Best wishes to him for a speedy recovery.

Sandy.
