I noticed this "dead rainbow" on the drive this morning.....on further investigation it seems that the fuel tank is leaking on my 51 TD5 ES!

Having taken it to a local garage they seem to think that the leak is coming from the top of the tank. They said that there should be an inspection cover in the boot area but they couldn't find it......were there any models that didn't have this elusive cover (just my luck) and has anyone else had the same problem?

Cheers for now

Quite often it's the return pipe chaffing just after the bend where it goes over the tank. It's about 2 inches in, you can cut it and put a piece of rubber fuel pipe and clips on in an emergency.

Check with your local main dealer as if i remember correctly there was a recall on these models due to the pipes chaffing.

Just heard back from the garage and you were right, the pipe had chaffed against the chassis!

Don't suppose it's worth pursuing the Main Dealer about the recall as it'll be down to the previous owner(s) who didn't bother?

Cheers for now

Call them and see, if it is entitled to the recall work and not been done for some reason, you can still have it done.
