Can anyone advise me where to find out about the rights of way in Scotland (particularly the NE Scotland). The system here seems much more restrictive than in England, Ireland & Wales. Do any of the large Estates allow you to have a drive down the lanes or can we go on beaches, Forrestry tracks etc...
I don't want to do anything illegal so better prepare before hand.
Many thanks in advance.

Estates are usually pretty unfriendly with gamekeepers quick to warn you off, while the Forestry Commission tend to padlock all access points. At the same time, a lot of the side farm roads around Deeside and Donside are virtually an off-road challenge, mainly due to mud and water filled potholes!

Thats such a shame. I can understand the estate owners during hunting season but there s just so much land out there that NOBODY ever goes on, its criminal. I have off road motorbikes too and get so frustrated as I can't find any where to use them and its an * hour tyrek to Wales which is Gods country for off roading - and great pubs too:rolleyes:
