Not really worth trying to change the engine for something else.
Try Find a Part on the Internet. We get all sorts of stuff off there. A Rover 75 or MGZT 2.5 should fit OK, just change the manifolds and ancilliaries over. But there are loads af accident damaged vehicles for salvage.

I hear what your saying,
but, the engine is gone, needs to be replaced,
knocks, banging, etc.
It was at the LR shop a year back, for intake replacement, I went back 2 times,
anitfreeze was disappearing, 1 gal. per month, they claimed nothing wrong every time,
it was running great, no signs of any issues, NOTHING, I was a mechanic for 20+ years, LOL,
great work huh, LOL
then 1 day, it started went 2 blocks, and shut off, would start, but wouldnt move, as soon as you accelerated, it died,
the OIL was like molassas, thicker then anything i've seen,
now, got oil out, refilled, cleaned pump screem, WOW, sounds terrible,
sent it to shop for a check,
now, it sits there, waiting, LR wants $9000 for a new one, and $3000 for a rebuilt,
Ow well, life goes on,
I want my Chevy back.

Oil like molasses is the common head gasket failure. The design of engine lets water down the head bolt holes in the block and into the sump.
I do mainly 4 cylinder K series engines, about 3 a month.
