Hi,

I heard on the local radio news a couple of days ago (Forth 1 and 2) that two guys from Edinburgh had planned an overland expedition to South Africa to raise money from charity, and were leaving Edinburgh tomorrow (Friday 21st March) in their "20 year old Land Rover".

Living locally I am keen to see them off tomorrow and take a few photos but I cannot find out any information or details anywhere, so I don't know where they are leaving from!!

Does anybody know of this trip or where I could find out anything about it?

Many thanks,

CY.

I listen to Boogie in the morning, but didn't hear any announcement myself, was it in the news items or later on in one of the other programs? Might help when doing a search, or could even send a quick e-mail to the presenter to ask them to say onair or something. They are normally pretty good at responding I have found.

I have done a few searches and can't find anything on the internet about it sadly... and not heard anything from other landie drivers I know in the area either...

What route will they be taking?
The Tanzania Challenge I done with Leukimia busters was done in a 38 yo 2A..

The vehicle is actually only 11 years old according to the above link. I'd be
far more impressed if it was a Series Land Rover.

I disagree.

I'd be more impressed if they were taking a Series Land Rover. The
technology (or lack thereof) could take them all the way there and back.
But an army of audiologists, chiropractors and masseurs would be required
to keep them going. :p

Well they did it in the '60's without loads of support so coils must have been introduced to pamper todays wimps:D

The "London - Cape Town trip" has become like a bus route.

At the moment between two and three coilers arrive in Cape Town every day having driven down from Europe.

Most people are taking the nice and easy east coast route and driving down in around three months.
