freelander speakers

does anybody or has anybody changed the speakers in there freelander its a 1998 model. any help would be appreciated the less moddification i have to do to make them fit the better :)

Hi Dilligaf, Yes i changed all four door speakers in my 1999 Hippo, its very easy... just need to undo all the screws and then the door cards just pull off , they are held on by poppers and i started at the bottom and worked my way up and didnt break one, usually some break but if carefull it can be done, I replaced the speakers with 6 1/2 " infinity 652i, which soundwise is a vast improvement over the standard ones, the only moification i had to do was align the speaker in the hole and drill pilot holes and fit new spade connectors, be aware that the speaker cable colour coding is different for each door, you may need to consult the ( bible ) Haynes manual .. chapter 12.46. I personally decided to keep the old speaker grills as that way i am not advertising to thieves, the whole job took about 2 hours from start to finish.. and that included two cups of tea so not bad. If i can help anymore no problem.
