I'm probably going to be moving oversees quite soon, still need to sort quite a bit out but there is a strong chance I could find myself in or around Dubai. Only thing is that I'm not going anywhere without my 300tdi 90.

I would really like to drive there but
a) how long would it take and
b) what would I need to do it

I have a 2m patriot roof rack and will be looking into a rooftop tent soon.

Would I need a second fuel tank? can air conditioning be retro fitted and is it reliable? I have a 2" lift on Heavy duty springs but I have absolutely no idea who the manufacturer is. Need to start researching so any tips/advice greatfully received.

You'll probably want to avoid Algeria, so Spain - Morocco is out.
The truck route is to take the Brindisi (back heel of Italy) then ferry.
I guess a lot depends if you want to turn it into an adventure or just get there.
I'd look to see if there's a ferry from Sicily to Tunis, then through Egypt (if I wanted to turn it into a holiday).

Have a look here (http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/hubb/middle-east/which-route-from-dubai-turkey-22130) for other ideas.

What an adventure :)...

Thanks KevSull, I appreciate the link. My original thought was Turkey, Syria, Jordan, Saudi then UAE but how much and what preparation would be needed to pass through Saudi? How stable is Iran?

I really want the adventure, taking 4 to 6 weeks off to do it. Something a bit different to the normal thing of jumping on a plane. When I bought my 90 I always wanted to use it to explore the world. Shame I can't get to the 60th aniversary as I really would like to see the Lone Wolf.
