I was thinking of converting my V8 powered defender to TVR V8 Power. Has anyone done this before? Does anyone have any helpful information for me?
Thanx! :dunno1:

All I can say is;

GO FOR IT!!

And don't forget to report back!

Apparently it's quite straightforward. Just make sure the gearbox is up to it!

And Enjoy

Is the TVR 4.2 not just the same engine as the 4.2 in the RR LSE? Just tuned a little. :D

Actually, I was thinking to go for the 4.5 Cerbera, not the 4.2 which produces a mere:goofylook 380bhp. The 4.5 produces around 440 bhp :buck: as I found out on the internet. Another problem would be the electrics of this engine..........
Any ideas for this problem?????????
As for the rest, I think my LR's gearbox and diffs will work just fine (well, I guess....)

Take the ECU out of a TVR. Or convert to carb.

I would use an auto box with that sort of power. talk to LRO i am sure they did an article on one of these.

The 5.0litre tvr V8 has certainly been done in at least one tomcat. As far as Im aware it was the complete engine with ecu and harness spliced into a custom harness. You should find that a lot of the ancilliaries will be stamped landrover since guess who supplied the base units.....? I dont know about the layout of a Cerbera engine bay but the Tomcat mimimicked its donor by having very large bore front exiting headers, the room for which was gained by putting the radiator in the back. Even with a rear mounted rad and roof scoop this combination seemed to run warm. This could be the lack of cooling room for the block since the headers ran forard along side the heads or that at race speeds and temperatures these lumps are blooming hot - glowing stainless is a nice thing to see. Anyway with carefull analysis of the relevant harnessess, appropriate transmission/carefull driving, suitable exhausts and possibly a thicker cored radiator/more fan runtime it should be no more complicated than any other v8 swap.

I was thinking to keep the TVR injection system as I'm really tired of the SU carbs on all my engines:Cross: . What kind of autobox you think I should fit? Would it be a good idea to fit the one used in the RR 4.6?

The ZF should handle that engine quite well, just give it plenty of oil cooling! Easiest choice too, nae problem with adaptors etc.
