Ok, this one should be a piece of cake, so I need to know what this is and who made it, and as well, where the mechanicals came from.

Ok, a clue. The following is the spec list taken from the vehicles original brouchure:

Filling Capacities:
Cooling System (water): 1.25 gallons (imperial)

Tyres: 5.90-15" Suburbanite or mudgrip

Optional Extras: 'Balanced Traction' differential; body tops; upholstered rear seats; towbar; windscreen washer; heater; radio; wheel chains; power brakes; passenger sun visor; exterior passenger side wing mirror; colour.

The colour has been edited because it included the vehicle's name. But the picture was either a respray or an optional extra. I've only ever seen one on the road, which was in the Autumn Gold colour. Apparently there's only a handful left, desite 2500 being made between 1966 and 1973, but I doubt any of them are in he Western hemisphere.

saw one a few years ago ,at tatton park classic show (owned several a35's at the time) ,intresting motor but looked decidedly home made ,more kit car than a production job lol ,but i gather they sold in reasonable numbers over there due to the pricing/tax structures

Mistericeman is spot on.

The vehicle was cheap because enough of it was made in NZ to avoid crippling import taxes payable on almost any other car (a few Peugots, Holdens and Chryslers were also made in NZ, mostly assembled CKDs as far as I can work out). Also, the adoption of a simple, 2-wheel-drive drivetrain was taken to keep costs down, while the high ground clearance was to cope with life on the farm and the high number of unmade roads once you get out of town. So, Matt, while it does look suspiciously Land Rover like on the outside, the resemblence really is only skin deep.

I noticed that on the website, i should have made it clearer that i thought the influence was evident on the styling, not that it was a cheap remake.
