Mine has developed this problem now! Its an 03 station wagon model and the noise sounds like its coming from inside the interior light cluster above your head. I did manage to close it by helping it along with my hand, but now I darent open it again! Help!

After I fixed one side of the mechanism (with a Torx screw and a piece of thin wire:D) I tried it once more to see whether it worked and it did. Since I leave it also closed, at the most I just lift the roof but that's it.

You have to change sun roof guide LH and RH mechanism but this will solve problem just for short.
mainly is problem with end switch witch does not switch off el. motor to stop pulling wire.
I hope this will help since that's what I heard from my friend who had this problems. I have 3 door model and no such type of roof.

there is no switch off on motor so when its opened or closed the motor keeps running.this stretches the cables and slips the plastic gear on motor.best thing to do with the sun roof is not touch it.
