oil leaking

Could somebody offer me some assistance please, i have a freelander TD4 2003 40k miles on the clock and am getting oil leaking out from the top of the dip stick pipe when the enginer is running yet when the engine is off the oil lever is correct.

Probably back pressure in the crankcase.

The top of the engine has a small plastic piece with a breather filter in it, they get blocked. Sounds like yours needs changing. It's a common event with the TD4.

Many thanks, took it apart and yes filter clogged, will be down to the dealer tomorrow to get a new one.:)

Does this filter need to be there, or could it be replaced with a catch tank?
