hi
just got myself a disco, its late 1994 v8i but has a rebuild 200tdi put in, large allisport intercooler pulls like a train.
A couple of problems to sort if any one has answers
its had the abs removed but the dash light is on, is there an easy way to get rid of this, it looks a pain taking the dash out to remove the bulb.
No central locking, dead as a post checked fuse its ok. will the ecu need changing, if so will the bleeps not work, they are working now to arm the alarm but no sign of life with the locking, oh and the reversing lights only work if you hold the gear stick across to the left with pressure on it. its a L77 box i think, reverse is across and up to the left.

many thanks

dont mean to be annoying but are you certain the abs has been removed and the seller hasnt just told you it has? On my disco the abs modulator is on the near side under bonnet in front of washer bottle.. unsure about V8 model but if you have the modulator with the brake pipes going into it then it might still have abs hooked up, but faulty (MOT fail).

The 4x4 garage i use has the diagnostic computer stuff and im sure he once told me he could use it to turn the abs light off to get through the MOT, but i got him to actually fix the problem instead (sensor).

might be able to help on a couple points if modulator is still there on abs try pushing each wheel sensor down hard into its mount on each wheel might cure it .. did mine anyway,,, and the reverseing light switch I think (sure someone will correct me if I,m wrong):D:D I think you can screw the switch in an out to adjust the on point ... on a lt77 i think its on the lever housing below your center consol not sure if you can get at it from below or if the consol need to comes out .. hope the info is some use;)

Re the revesing lights, just done this on my wife's car, so I up to speed with this one.

I would suggest that it's best to
a. Have a new one in stock (£6 from Craddocks) before you start;

B. Go in from the top. It was surprisingly easy to take out the centre console, then the sound absorbing stuff, then a rubber membrane, then you're at the top of the gearbox.

The reverse lights switch screws into the back end of an alloy box on the top. You may find that you only need to adjust it a bit - but you may find, as I did, that it needs a new switch, which you have in stock:rolleyes: and can install in 2 mins and have that "I've fixed it" rosey glow :cheers:

Hope that helps,
Cheers
Dave

cant see a modulator, brake pipes look like they go to each wheel from servo, taken bulb out of dash now so prob solved (until mot time) hopfully no problems.
no got round to reversing lights yet, another day i think,
