Hi & welcome dpetro, re the mp3 radio/cd thing, just buy a new radio CD that plays mp3. It is very easy to fit, takes 5-10 minutes, that's all !! And forget all about the CD changer.
Cheers

Dear Dave
It is NOT so simple . The new one must to be work with steering controls (Vol ,Mode ,Search) and the system of loudspeaker !
Thanks

Hi dpetro, sorry but it IS simple. To continue with the remote controls on the steering wheel, you buy a small black box and the same place as the radio/CD shop. This black box costs about 40€ in France.
You started this thread with the priority being to play mp3's, so I told you how you could do that - now you say you want it with this & that.............you didn't say that at the beginning.
With regard to the speaker system, how are we supposed to know what you have got if you don't tell us. For a standard setup it IS as I have said - do you have a Harmon Kardon speaker set in your car?
I am trying to help you so please don't use a harsh tone with me, or I'll just stop :frown2::Cross:

You can buy a device which looks like a cassette tape with a cable coming from it you put it in the cassette player as if it was an audio tape and plug the other end of the cable into your mp3 player. This will then allow your MP3 player to play through the stereo.

Hi Dpetro,
Here is the answer to you question & its Cheap.
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/harman-kardan-drive-and-play-i-pod-kit_W0QQitemZ110246042051QQihZ001QQcategoryZ58350Q QssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
The only reason these are in the market cheap now is that there is a MK11 version out, so all the old stocks of the mark 1 are being sold of cheap, had one in my Merc-Benz ML & Fitted one straight away to the discovery, You get a display, Ipod controler, so you leave the Ipod conected in the glovebox out of anyone elses eyes, controler works the same as your Ipod.
For this money you can not go wrong.
Kind Regards

Ok dpetro, get the Ouzo ready !!!
There are a number of different ways you can play mp3's in your car, it depends on whether you want to use CD's or an mp3 player of some kind.
In my Disco, I bought a new radioCD with a socket on the front, so that I could use my Philips mp3 plugged into it. There are also some units that have usb sockets on the front also, so you could buy a usb key, dump you songs on it and then plug it into the new radio.
With the black box I spoke of before you would still have your steering wheel controls, but you haven't said anything about the loudspeaker setup.

Can I ask which unit you actually purchased as I'd also like to plug a non-iPod MP3 player into the head unit? Can you also give me any more information about the "black box" that you mention that will let me use the steering wheel controls and existing Harmon Kardon speakers (I have the TD5 ES model)?
Cheers for now

To be honest Shermydog, no I can't. I was in the car parts shop looking at Radio/CDs and when I told the guy it was for a Disco, he showed me a black box, cost I believe was 40€ saying to use this if I wanted to retain the remote controls.
I wasn't particularly bothered to have them because on a D1 they are those silly dashboard mounted affairs, not the ones on the steering wheel, so I didn't buy them.
Re the Harmon Kardon setup I'm sorry I have no experience or knowledge it.

Μy good Friends
¶In order to communicate better ¶
1. ¶ disco it has installed sound-system C-42 of LAND ROVER with RADIO CASSETTE and 6-cd-changer. ¶With remote control in the steering wheel and with good quality loudspeaker . ¶
¶2. All we know that they exist CD with songs mp3 and that in Usb-flash memory you can have hundreds songs. ¶When in a cd-changer you put such CD obviously him it don’t recognizes. ¶
¶3. I know that with 100-200 € you can buy new Radio-cd that recognizes format mp3 and accepts USB. ¶
¶4. If I buy (3) I make useless the cd-changer but, probably, and wireless remote. ¶
My main subject therefore is no his replacement sound-system but the possibility of transformation (for example with some intervention in cd-changer)"reads" CD format mp3. ¶
Thanks
Greeting from sun full Greece.

Sorry Shermydog, I missed this bit earlier.
I bought a Panasonic CQ-C1425N. It was 89€ and took me 5 mins to fit. It's not the best ever Radio/CD but it is good, cheap and works well with my Philips 2 gb mp3 player, just plugs straight in, select Aux and your away.
My main goal was being able to transfer tubes (as we call 'em in France:p) from my computer to the car. This setup does it in style with loads of power and low distortion.

Thanks for that, I was hoping you'd re-read the post and see the first question.....I'll have a look for the same unit and then find something similar to the black box so that I can keep using the steering wheel mounted controls.
Thanks for your help
