Hi i think there may be backlash in my gearbox? When the throttle pedal is applied there is a delay in the take up of drive, is this a big job to fix?

mainshaft splines can wear on the box to the output gear on the transfer box. iff you take a round plate off the back of the transfer box, you can slide the gear out. check the gearbox shaft and the transfer box gear . you can get a cross drilled one iff its not too late, alan....

Backlash usually makes the truck kangaroo a bit. If it takes a while to move when you let the clutch up, it might be the clutch on it's way out.
