Alan
Is it just those rivets that hold the cover on under the wheel arch, think i need to get those off and have a look at the under side of the inner wing on mine. I'v just got some scabs of rust where those little plastic tits stick through the inner wing got some waxoyl on these but would be better to have some on both sides I think.
Regards
Tom

Same here. Been out with the rust inhibitor liquid today. It's not too bad, but at some point I'd like to remove all of the stuff on both arches to see if it's hiding under all of that abs control thingy and plastic trim etc. Plus a few spots behind the headlights (worse on battery side).
Been at the rear arches + rear door curve too. Seems someone has already done this job reasonably well on both sides; you know that weensy flat bit under the door lock spigot bit? Anyone know how much it will cost to have a whole new arch done? I don't think it needs it just yet, but I'm thinking more long term and getting the sills and the rear arches done as a job lot at some point. I'm guessing I'll not like the answer :D

Hmm I had another look at mine earlyer, poked one of the scabs with my finger and made a hole in it! I'm getting a mig welder ASAP, a mate of mine is a steel fabricator an he is currently finding me a desent welder so I can patch all the rusty bits up myself. The rust beetle has been at the box section that the front doors bolt on to just where the sunroof drain hoses are. Oh and a little bit in the n/s rear wheel arch, should have it all done in a day, just need a welder and some fine weather!!

Ah yes, that's the only bit I'm really bothered about mot wise; drivers side front door pillar, lower (first pic) and the nearside rear wheel arch (second pic). The previous repair to the rear arch isn't too bad and the thumbnail sized 'hole' doesn't go all the way through; the black stuff is mainly rust killer. On the other hand I dread to look under the plastic sill trim. All the evils of the world could be under there for all I know :(

tis just them plastic rivets, and some steel rivets that hold to the outer wing ,3 of them .and one 10 mm bolt at the lower end of the sill. getting there with mine,,alan.....
Pity I have no clue about welding, or have some space other than the road outside my house where I can take the time to do that stuff myself.
I think perhaps the continued ownership of my disco ought to include attendance on a welding course at my local technical college. How hard can it be?
