Would fault with air suspension immediately show up on dashboard warning lights? My 2004 ES seems to have a very choppy ride compared with former coil-sprung model. I expected self levelling suspension to be very smooth and not at all firm.

I have a 2001 ES and it also seems quite firm (very bumpy over rough roads and potholes, etc) but I just assumed it was a "feature" of the air suspension!

Cheers for now

if you have 18in rims or Bigger they make the ride very firm,

Thanks for that. It does have 18in rims and, as you say, is very firm on the road and even seems to feel the white lines along with the (numerous) potholes. Also has the dreaded sunroof leak, which I have just been quoted around £70 to put right!

Try some spray syicone on the sunroof seal, works wonders

Going back to the rim size, I can understand how the profile of the tyre would cause the "firm ride" i.e. low profile tyres with very little side wall but not why the size of the actual wheel would make any difference?

Any thoughts?

Cheers for now

Russell

18ins or above are "low profile" for the disco, it was designed with 16in rims in mind

Ahhhhh.......that explains it then, less sidewall to take some of the bumps before they hit the air supsension units!

Many thanks

Certainly my previous Td5 with other wheels/tyre size felt far softer - seem to feel every bump and camber now. Was worried it was suspension problem, though not chimes ringing or lights flashing.

My TD5 has air and 16 inch wheels and feels pretty harsh over bumpy roads. The same roads felt much better in my Rover 600.
