Hi, to you all.
I faced a weird problem on my 200TDI this weekend.
After a 130km journey on a very hot afternoon (it's Portugal, you know :D) I noticed that there was some oil spillage under the steering box.
I open the bonet and there was oil, steering oil, all over the front right side. I unscrewed the cap and ???? the cap level dipstick was melted .
The oil was dark and smelly. However the steering was normal as usual.
The next day I went to nearest workshop and the mechanic changed the hole oil and didn't find anything wrong with the pump. It work smothly.
On the way back the oil over heated and was espelled from the filler cap once more but this time it didn't get dark or smelly, it kept reddish.
What can be happening?
Shall I change the pump?
Someone told me that the pump could be failling dued to ageing (it's s 1994 disco with 238000Km. Is that the reason for this oil heating and spillage?
