Discovery 2 300tdi ?????(help)

Hi Guys,

First post & it may seem a daft one. I am currently looking at a discovery year 2000. Now this disco is definatly a 300tdi apparently one of the last before they changed to the TD5. Whilst doing my research online all I can find listed for Discovery 2 (1998-2004) is either a TD5 or V8. Do you get 300TDi Discovery 2 or is it still the Discovery 1.

Welcome, I am no expert but I seem to recall reading somewhere that in certain markets the Discovery 2 was available with the 300TDi motor, or maybe that was the Defender?:confused:

Cheers for that, thats what i thought. Would have expected to find some reference to a 300tdi disco 2 though. Maybe someone on here will know for certain

Is it definetly a Disco2 and not one of the last series 1's that was registered late? Could have been sitting around in a compound for a few years.

Either way, unless it is cheap or you plan to keep it for a long time I would avoid buying it, could cause problems with servicing unless you are doing it yourself and the resale value will be less because it is an 'odd' model.

If you can get the VIN to a main dealer, they should be able to tell you what the factory built. Or think they built!

Thanks for your replies but its me being a complete tw*t. Its a 1998 (S) one of the last Discovery 1's before thay changed to the TD5 Discovery 2 models. For some reason got it into my head that S reg was 2000.
