I have looked at a number of FL recently this one ticks the boxes at the moment for our needs it’s a slate grey 2004 TD4 ES 5door auto. Take that all relevant history and the condition is excellent with 30k on the clock. In times when 4x4s seem to be in a price freefall what do we think its worth in today’s market? Any advice welcome as I need to make a decision fairly quickly – currently a private seller asking near enough 9k.

Hi there, if it is the facelift model then I think the price is about fair. remember the Td4 Auto is in my mind the finest of the range (I had an ES model - pre-facelift) well packed with comforts, power, strength and an ideal 4 x 4. I now have an 05 HSE Td4 Auto and despite the odd glitch have no plans to change it, even if they charge me £1000 a year in road tax, nothing too bad to look out for, MAF sensors can be a problem but are now fairly cheaply available, quite economic to run, far smoother and I feel more torquee than a manual- go and get it bought, you know you want to.
Is there full service history? any record of warranty work (if needed)
Where abouts are you?
Good luck and welcome to the forum, really friendly and knowledgable buch on here, even mad Robbie!!!!
cheers for now:D:D:D:D:D:D

Maffy,
What is the mad robbie thing all about???? the doctor said that as long as i keep pressing the accelerator then i should be fine!!!!!!!!!!!!
Did i see you post a few weeks ago that you had bought a set of front disks and pads for 44 quid? i can't understand it, but mine are about shot and up for replacement...... where did you get them from?
Have you got dave crash's phone number still, i lost it....
Have you heard of an additive called millers oils? someone posted about it and i tried it, now i swear by it, it makes things a lot smoother and i have definitely noticed the extra mpg's :)
Regards
"mad" robbie

Thanks for the reply Maffy, in answer to your questions:

Facelift model, FSH, 12mths MOT, will check for warranty work and I am based in Sheffield. I should be able to test drive the car this afternoon so lets hope all goes well:)

Cheers Des

Well I had the car for half a day yesterday and only a couple of small niggles were evident, I enjoyed it much more than I thought so am making an offer today.

Just been through a number of posts on hear which make for scary reading re the number of faults and issues with very few positive comments about the FL but it would seem the TD4 is the one to go for – anyway what’s life without a risk

Struck the deal last night so should be in possession of our first FL later today if all goes well with the Mot this morning. One amendment to my previous post, it’s not an ES it’s an SE –:D
