well yesterday me clutch went pop straight to the floor, had to help it back up but now its goes up and down.

Anyway it went pop off roading trying to pull a Disco out of some boggy mud, that didnt work then i got stuck trying t get out myself, thing is i wasnt on the clutch when it went bang so how does that work lol.

Had the handbrake on till i got the revs, released the handbrake and the clutch so only pedel in use was the accelerator then after about 10 seconds the clutch pedal drops to the floor and no clutch.

Left it for about an hour pedel now comes up and down but put it in gear and try to pull off and nothing no drive at all but the engine will rev up.

oh ****** back to the garage we go:eek:

A TD4 isn't it?

Concentric slaves fail, the pedal goes to the floor, but you can't engage any gears, obviously.
Dual mass collapses, but generally makes one hell of a noise and does move the car.
Centre plate strips the hub out, depends if it is a sprung hub or a solid metal plate.

Other thing that does happens is the pressure plate diaphragm is initially self adjusting, they overshoot and the clutch won't release.

You can bleed a TD4 clutch, try that, but whatever it is, it's going to need the IRD and Box off to get at anything.

Loads, the slave costs nearly as much as the clutch kit. Concentrics for most cars are from £80 to £160 retail. I think we got a 3 part kit and slave for about £65 each, trade price of course. The Dual Mass was OK, that is between £200 and £400, but most parts suppliers stock them now so the price is dropping fast. If they are charging you for genuine land rover parts, ask for the old parts in the boxes.... If it says Valeo on the white and green boxes, they aren't from LR....;)

We can fit a clutch in about 2 1/2 hours if 2 of us do it ( we did one a few weeks ago after work)

Once it's on a 2 post ramp you just take the subframe off and everything is there in front of you.

I don't know what hourly rate they charge, but 7 man hours max should cover it, less it they know what they are doing.

If the reservoir level is low, the slave will have popped the seals. They do have a bleed screw on a TD4, top it up and try it, you've nothing to lose.
