seems a bit low, but depneds how you drive it. My M reg 3.9 got an average of 19.something on a run down the motorway after replacing the lamda sensors, oil and filter change, oh and a new air filter!! How many miles has yours done??

'Brim to warning light' tankfulls of UL get me 340-350 miles; which works out at 19.2 mpg on (mainly) 70mph motorway runs. Urban use returns about 15 mpg.
So, looks like you have a problem. Ever noticed the neibour's kid with red lips and a gerry can?;)

FFS, that's what my 2A often returns but at almost half that speed. :(

Although I hear Lewis' is now really guzzling the fuel with chunky tread and a roof rack. :D

Good point Rich...

SAS, have you got massive mud tyres, roof racks and tents in your V8? have a load of stuff in the boot?

A heavy right foot accounts for a great deal, I find my wife can get through more fuel than me on the same journey...she dabs the accelerator and then brakes, then accelerates...and does not give the old girl time to warm up.

Drive and accelerate gently and let the car glide around the place...

I never work our my MPG as I think I would cry if I ever found out:)
Saying that, its better than 9mpg!

Hi, my 94 V8 auto does 16mpg around town and 19mpg on a motorway run ...... and I have a heavy right foot !!! 9mpg is too low unless you are doing constant stop/start driving in rush hour.

no all standard for the moment, drive lightly on throttle aswell nothing floating around in car either, and i really did not want to work it out but when i first got it it was only returning 5mpg found some split breather hoses and vacuum hose, replaced those and has got better but still not as good as what i thought it would return, i was hoping for approx 15mpg or more:) have you any ideas ???

yea, give it a good service, all filters, check tyre pressures too. then possibly change plugs, leads, dizzy cap. when's the mot due?, sounds like it might be running a bit rich too, so might be worth prodding a gaz analyzer up the exhaust to see if it running too rich, if so could be fuel pressure regulator or lamda sensors.

hope that helps??

Don't forget the obvious... oil level in the diffs, tyre pressure and leaden right foot!
