Hi Folks,

I think my head gasket has gone. I have a presurised cooling system thats blowing coolant and fumes out of every weak point it can find.

I have had a look at the existing gasket in situe and there isnt any indication if its a 1,2,3 or 4 notch gasket. From this I am assuming that in the past the head gasket has gone and an aftermarket one has been fitted.

So having never had to deal with this before what do I need to do?
Can I just fit a new gasket and hope for the best?
Do I need to get the head looked at?
How do I figure out which gasket I need?

Thanks

There are some links at the bottom of this page and probably lots of others that will help. You do need the right gasket and the identification is located at the rear right hand injection pump side with an overlapping piece with indentification holes in it but it may not be readable until the head is off.
