Cheapest option, don't use the carrier, just put it in the back of the truck. ;)
Expensive option, buy a swingaway wheel carrier.

wanted to keep it outside really. Never seen a disco with a swing away?
That devon4x4 option seems to solve it but at £58.00 it seems expensive.
Shame I cant modify the brqackewt thats on it.

Just as a suggestion I haven't tried this but couldn't you just take the carrier off, then replace it with a spacer inbetween and some longer bolts? a bit of square 1" alloy tube behind each side should do it.

Might have a look at that option over the weekend. Thanks.

mount the spare face first? Sure it will stick out more but may be a cheap fix?
Not really looked at a disco bracket mind!

Cheap an easy fix, take the carrier of the door, turn it upside down and refit it . Will give you a few more inches, how ever it will only line up with 4 bolts out of the 6, but if your concerned on that issue, its easy to add 2 more rivnuts to the other 2 holes.

Thats a cracker - have you done this?

From memory I can't see how that would help at all?
Also why would you need rivnuts? The rest just use standard nuts and bolts?
I'm fairly sure the wheel carrier was symetrical so I can't see it would give any greater distance - I might be wrong though and I've got no way to check

Here is a picture on ebay:

As you can see the bolts look symmetrical and so does the mount

Yes but the single wheel stud that is at the bottom will be at the top and that will lift the wheel slightly As it will sit higher than the level of the current top 2 studs. Even if the mounting is exactly the same height.

I haven't seen it done but I have heard turning the mount the other way round as red hand suggest will allow a slightly larger tyre to fit. Give it a go and dont drill any holes until your happy :)

My dad had this problem when fitting his spare 33-12.50-r16 tyre on the rear door, i cant remember how it fitted, but it definatley fitted on there with very little modification. Turning the bracket upside down rings a bell for some reason:confused:

I think it's an aerial mounting bracket. Stops your aerial getting ripped off whilst greenlaning.

yes it was just a bracket for sale, only picture I could find,
apparently it takes a gutter mount CB aerial and the spare wheel still fits on with it
