O/S/F cv joint

My k reg disco 200, has a clicking noise coming from the o/s/f hub, im assuming this is a cv joint, i also noticed when i jack it up, there is a little play when i shake it top and bottom, i noticed that this play is in that big ball thing lol (sorry about part names but this is my 1st 4x4), how do i fix this, ive got a manual ordered but im going to start it now, could someone give me a quick run down on what to do?

The big ball thing is the swivel housing, do a search for "swivel pre-load" and "wheel bearing adjustment" and you should find what you are looking for.

hello and welcome..

Jack the front wheel up, get someone to stand on the brakes shake the wheel (holding at the 12 and 6 o'clock position). If you still have play in the wheel the it's down to the swivel bearings.
