Lighting problems when towing with TD5 II

Good morning

Can anyone assist please. When my horsebox is attached to Discovery (TD5) the lights on the trailer are very faint. In addition the driver side indicators on the trailer will not work and the indicators flash on when the brakes are pressed!

Must be a problem with the car, as when affixed to another vehicle all appears to work as normal.

Occasionally when the trailer is attached and the indicators are used, the CD display flashes!!

Any help/suggestions gratefully appreciated.

Had this problem for a while and an auto electrician advised it was a loose earth on the lamp unit. This was corrected and the problems seemed to disappear. That said I've also noticed strange happenings when my wife did not push the trailer connector home properly and recently all the rear lights failed and had to be replaced so I'm not sure I've got rid of the problems.
