Hi,

Have an 05 disco3 had it since new had a few problems which were covered under warranty. Car won't start all the lights come on and you can here clicks from the relays (i think thats the sound) when you turn the ignition but engine will not turnover.

I have not had the problem in more than a 18 months. It is now out of warranty and wondering if there are any ideas.

Once when it happened the car was running but lost all electrics except headlights, It was 1am and did not stop or turn ignition off as i knew it would not start again. Drove home with hazards on (i had not switched them on) and when got home parked and tried to restart, Nada.

Cheers

Johnny

you might want to try posting this on disco3.co.uk - someone may have seen something similar

Check the battery earthing points, there are 2 from what I remember, one obvious and one not quite so and they have been known to come loose.

Good luck :)

Sorted hopefully.

A warranty recall Q045 which replace cabling under the dash apparantly the problem.

Of course when i dropped the car at the dealership after being towed it would not start. But magically when they got to the car it was turning over no poblem. So got stung £84 for a health check!

How can they charge you for a health check when they have admitted that the problem was due to cabling which is subject to a recall?

I would be challenging that!

Hmmm...something fishy here. Q045 is "Rotary Coupler wiring fracture", it'sbecause they are worried that the wiring to the airbag "might" rub through bring the SRS light on. Never seen this fault but have carried out loads of this recall!

Haven't had a Disco 3 come in yet not starting, but suggest that it needs to go onto IDS (computer) and the faults read as there must be something there. Speak to LR Customer services explain that the vehicle is out of warranty (not by much i wouldn't have thought) and they may agree to pay some of the final bill.

Out of interest which dealer did you take it to?
