Hello all,

I'm off to Tunisia in the Discovery next year. Many of the regulars here will know that I've travelled there before, for the newbies, I've been 3 times in the car and travelled quite extensively throughout the country, except the north, which I intend to do this time. My plan is to spend between 10-14 days on the Ile de Djerba by the beach so that I can do some serious windsurfing, I will also be visiting the desert for several days. The whole trip door to door will be around 21 days, allowing 2 days each way through France and will also be dependent on ferry crossings to Tunis.

If anyone would like to join me (in their own vehicle) for the crossing and as a contact/guide while travelling the country, please mail me to discuss.

Costs are likely to be in the region of £2000 for a vehicle with two adults, this includes travel through France, ferries, hotels en-route, fuel, food and camping in Tunisia. This is only what I expect to spend, how you choose to eat and sleep will determine your costs.

If you want inspiration take a look at www.4x4-travel.co.uk (http://www.4x4-travel.co.uk).

Love to, went there '95, how long ago:eek: Would go again, but......
Anyway nice to see picks of it again. Went to tozeur, djerba, chott, sbeitla, Le kef, dougga etc and other Roman stuff.
You probably know, Matmata is where Star Wars was filmed in the sous terrains. El Djem is worth a look, better Collaseum than Rome I reckon. Kasserine rings a bell up north for summat but can't remember.
Enjoy!

We back-packed it this April had about 24C a few days, bit cloudy some of the time and a little rain, nothing too hot though, mainly t-shirt weather. There were a few sunbathing on the beaches, and we did swim.

April is perfect for me to join Tunisia just on my return from Sardegna to mainland. Genova seems more schedule reliable crossing point to me, but France is ok too. Residing in Cyprus. Owing a Hannibal-tent-warn-winched equipped Discovery II. Age 38

Hello Georgian,
Yes Genova is an option that I've used myself, however from UK the drive is further and the saving of around £100 for the crossing is more than consumed by the extra miles, tolls and time taken due to the more mountainous terrain.

Be happy to have you along though. Keep in touch and nearer the time we'll start planning dates once CTN have anounced their 2009 timetable and prices.
