Just taken my TD5 Auto for 200,000km service to my local indi. They tell me all 5 injectors need replacing. thats gonna be like re-mortgaging the house. Can it be that all 5 would need doing at once? She runs well, only smokes when I put my foot down hard and returns over 10km/l consumption. What would be the symptoms?

I'd find a better garage. If the injectors were gone you wouldn't run at all well. There is no chance all 5 would have gone at once. It would cough and stutter all the time

Smoke at high throttle is more likely an air leak, or the intercooler hose collapsing/delaminating of the wastegate actuator has gone (all common)

I think Templar said a month or two back that he'd never had to replace more than one injector at a time.
This was in response to a very similar post - also from S Africa iirc!

In the wife's Tdi 200, that's never had any new injectors and it's done 163,000mls !!!!

This garage is pulling your leg, move onto someone a bit more honest/competant with TD5 and has all the requisite test gear.
