It would appear I have a leak from somehere in the common rail for the injection system on my TD5. The oil level was rising and got to a dangerous level. I replaced the copper washers and "0" ring seals on each injector however I still had the problem I removed the injectors and examined the washers and seal I had installed and they looked perfect so I again replaced them to try to be certain.

The oil level is still rising and seems to be worse than before. Do I have a cracked common rail or is there some other possibility?

Hi Radi. It doesent sound good it is quite common for the cylinder heads to crack and cause the diesel to leak in to the sump. sometimes if you remove the injectors you can see the crack but sometimes not. If you leave it as it is it will eventually rev up on its own caused by all the diesel leaking past the piston rings so its best to get it looked at soon. If it is this it will be a new cylinder head soz mate. Lawson:(

I work on Diesels other that the TD5 and we have has spates of failures of the front seals on the high pressure fuel pump resulting in diesel in the oil. I'm not sure id be looking for a cracked head at this stage unless its another week spot on the TD5. ???

The TD5 is a bit like the Cummins PT system, the injector provides the high pressure via the camshaft, Oops.

It has a low pressure pump in the tank and a regulator (that leaks) on the side of the head.

Thank you for the replies. It looks very like I need to buy a head anyone got any suggestions as to where I should try?. My first searches are comming up at about £950 complete with valves and springs

I've read that Turner Engineering are very good for reconditioned heads.
