Hello,
We don't have the luxury of intermittent wipers here in the Series forum - maybe better to ask in the Disco part of the forum? :)
Ooops sorry...new member goofed up.....although, I dont have them either now..its go stop and stop!! thanks for the reply anyway

Hi,
Hoping you'll pick this up from in here and you wont have moved onto the Series Forum. Havent heard of it on a Disco, but have had the exact same problem with a Rover 200 saloon, and id think the wiper motor is quite similar. Do a google for "faulty intermittant rover wipers" or something and you'll get the how to guide. The problem is that the power gets to the motor in the form of a wheel and a kinda of follower, the follower wares down and therfore the motor will only turn when its on fast (as this has a seperate track to follow on the wheel) you'll understand all this when you take it to bits. Basically you have to drill out the rivets on the wiper motor and take the motor gearbox apart, then you solder a little peice of the fuse holder from a plug (or other similar piece of brass) then re-assemble, I did this fix on one of my cars maybe a year ago, and its still working fine.
Hope this gives you some ideas, id look for a guide of exactly how to do it, as the one I followed had photos and was much easier!

Just done my 300tdi. You'll need to remove the wiper motor from the car and then drill out the 5 rivets on the circular part. Remove the circular part and there are two wires going to two small bits of springy copper. These rub on the wheel inside and make the contact. The insulated bit tells it where to park.
I soldered a bit of stiff copper wire on mine. You'll need a 75 watt soldering iron and a piece of 1.5mm copper wire a couple of inches long like the type used for wiring up houses.
When you've soldered the connections, you'll need 5 small self-tapping screws to replace the cover that you took off. it's also a good idea to clean the old grease out of the mechanism and replace with some clean stuff.
Takes a couple of hours to do and it's more hassle getting it off and on than doing the job!
