View Full Version : How was it for you?
Back from Beltring after a great weekend. The EMLRA stand was magnificent (both in quality & quantity) the Pink Panther guys put on a good display, Dunsfold exhibited JUNO 02 for the first time, and there were plenty of interesting individual Land Rovers on display. I particularly liked the rare 1967 Royal Air Force IIa ambulance (Lomas) and if I had only come up with three more numbers on the National Lottery on Saturday night, I'd have bit the sellers arm off!
Sorry if I did not get the chance to meet anybody (especially Nick) but the weekend just vanished. Roll on 2002.

Pleased to hear you had a great time at Beltring Bob:)
Unfortunately it's at the wrong end of the country for me(not a journey i would greatly look forward to in my Lightweight,in both terms of fuel consumption/costs nor the 'comfort' factor!! ). As it happens I could not of got time off work anyhow to get there, which means I didn't have to choose between Billing and Beltring, though I suspect Billing would of won on distance alone:)
Anyhow i look forward to reading about Beltring in the various mags,EMLRA newsletter etc (though i will be depressed seeing what i have missed:( ).
If you went to Billing instead of Beltring, this is just one of the treats you missed.

Uggh. That one fell out of the ugly tree and hit all the branches on the way down. I think they got it right with the 101. Not a curve on the body unlike that ugly beast.

Grrrrrr...... Just got back from Beltring (having stopped @ the pub for a few "depression relieving" swifties) and Bob has managed to beat all records for the "Where the f*** was that, and why didn't I see it ?" award which usually has to wait for the next issue of Gun Mart.
It was a grand few days all told, loadsa Landies, Loadsa drink, Loadsa purchases..... Not loadsa money left.
Sorry I mised you Bob, but trying to find anyone or anything on site was just...... well, anyone who's been there can understand.
I'll get my pics developed tomorrow and post a few choice ones.

You gotta know what you're looking for - and have mates to keep you posted on new sightings.

Now then, let me see.It wouldn't happen to be a Land Rover Challenger would it??:D
Actually I cheated,I saw it in the Dunsfold Collection newsletter!:)
Yes, it is Challenger. It was an experiment to see if it was feasible to produce a Discovery-based pickup (what our Antipodean cousins would call a Ute) to compete head-on with the likes of the Nissan Militar and the Toyota Hi-Lux.

So I take it it failed the feasibility study then......
More a case of confirmation that the Defender was still better suited to what the soldiers needed, rather than what the procurement accountants wanted! If it aint broke, why fix it?

You mean the 'I wonder where that bit went?'bit, the 'what the hell probably didn't need it,just throw it in the corner and pretend I had never seen it' bit?
...Later it becomes 'I wonder what hell is wrong with this engine?' bit. :D :D
