View Full Version : Anyone use Spacers?
Hi all,
Anyone use spacers on their Disco?
Seen some advertised that widen the track by 60mm, haven't asked the cost yet.
Do they help, it mainly gets used on road.
My experience of spacers is bump steer and worn bearings but that's from FWD VW's.. any probs on Disco's?
Cheers
Scott
your going to have problems with the bearings, why do you want to put spacers on you could just have bigger rims with bigger off set but watch the body work if tyres are too big

Also be prepared to stump up about £160!
160 quid!:yikes:
Think I'll save the money for some bigger tyres on the standard rims then.
It would only really be for looks, don't fancy killing bearings though.

I've got standard 8 spokes on my Defender, but I'm always asked if I've got spacers. I don't - the offset on the wheels and the wide tyres do it. (Looks good though!!!)
You can get different offsets - just be very careful as the clearance on a Disco wing isn't as good as on a 90!

I have a set of Scorpion spacers on my Disco and have had no problems with the bearings in the two years that they have been fitted, which includes off-road in at home and the Belgium National last September.
I fitted them after I put a set of wheel arch flares on and it fills out the arches better without having to get a new set of alloys & tyres when the ones I have are still newish. They have also given it more positive steering.
Yes, the Scorpion spacers are expensive but they a euro safety tested, which I understand some of the others are not (although I'm sure there are nothing wrong with them ;) ).
