I have one. Useful certainly as uses dead space in wheel arch. On the other side i fitted long range fuel tank (45L) The water tank is around 40L. Where the hose connect to tank did start to drip a bit just as entered afica, 2 hr job to fix leak with really strong solvents and leak stop. The unit is black plastic and is a bit of a faff to fit (2man job). I use a funnel and hose pipe to fill or jerry cans. Gd idea to have a couple of water storage devices in case of leak!
Cost wise, i think it was £100, cant remember exactly! Worth it? i think so.

Scortpian Racing are in administration.....
Plenty other people make those tanks. Frontrunner for one. Try APB Trading. They import Frontrunner gear.

I wonder if Scrapiron will have a closing down sale? It might be worth a trip down the road to buy some bits at a sensible price.
Still, that orange paint on the linked thread sounds good - better than galvanising by the sounds of it. Or maybe they just used too much Chinese steel.;)

My biggest gripe about Scorpion was they never advertised prices in the mags, very annoying having to phone up all the time, and yes, they were expensive.

I have a stainless steel one attached to the box section behind the front passenger seat and in front of the rear wheel arch, filled from behind the passenger seat and drained at the rear, it has had an electric pump at some stage in the past, my series 3 was imported from South Africa in 1987 so do not have any other information on it

I use ex-MoD black plastic 20l cans in ex-MoD 110 side lockers. It's a bit basic, and you have to remove the cans before you can access the water, but it's cheap, reliably, has built-in redundancy (so a leak won't lose all your water), is easy for refilling and cleaning out. Down in those lockers, the centre of gravity isn't badly affected either, though stowed on the roof they'd be unpleasant. then again, so would th ebig flat tanks that the like of Scrapiron sell to mount on roof racks.

'Course the other option is to just get all your water in sealed bottles as per your nearest supermarket, use 'em, then bin 'em. Less chance of contamination, less chance of losing ALL your water through one leak, less stuff to carry.
I mean, why repack something that invariably comes in a perfectly good package in the first place?
Took a 20L water jerry can to Morocco. Never once used it.

Dependes were you are going and how long for, plus alot of countries dont have the proper facilities to cope with all the wasted plastic bottles unlike our own country. But then each to there own.

Although I have a fresh water tank fitted. I buy my water in 5 litre bottles then donate the empty bottles to the locals who I've always found have been thankful for them.

I've been to some fairly out-of-the-way places and struggled not to find drinking water in bottles.
Then burn the bottles after use. Yeah, yeah, I know, look at me, melting ice bergs, felling rainforests, trampling on baby seals........

Run yer landy on SVO then...the woolly global warmers can then complain your landy is starving the poor in the third world...even though the SVO fuel is sustainable .....just towed a woolly in a Polo out of a ditched in barnet...no charge, just passing by.......only to be berated for using SVO. ( palm oil and rapeseed so it does smell of Chips).....half and inch of snow and north London goes into chaos

Ours is a baobab water tank I think and has been excellent. It's fitted just behind the rear seats.
