Hi,

I'm looking into booking our summer holiday and we've decided to go up to the Lake District. We've been there loads of times, but not in the caravan, sooooo can anyone recommend a good caravan site , preferably in the windermere, ambleside, grasmere area. It's got to be a fairly commercial site (bar, entertainment) good facilities, clean modern loos and showers, and be VERY child friendly.
I've looked at Fallbarrow Park which looks very good. Does anybody have any experience of this site?

Cheers,

We mainly stay at CL's (max 5 caravans) they're nice and quiet and dont always have full facilities which suit us as we've everything we want onboard.
On the very odd occassion that we've stayed where there is a clubhouse its tended to rowdy and the lager louts kept us awake into the wee small hours :Cross:
There is a nice CC site at Coniston which is big and caters for kids but does'nt have a clubhouse, for most folk they just walk or drive into Coniston for a beer. :)
Are you in any caravan clubs ?

Similarly,

Meathorpe fell, near Grange over Sands (Caravan Club) is a very nice larger site, next door to a Hotel! Very well located for the South Lakes.

:band:

Been to Lakeland in Flookburgh, Grange over Sands.

Good facilities, Indoor/Outdoor Pool, Entertainment, Pony trekking, Bowls etc etc etc. Shower/Toilet facilities excellent.

Family would enjoy it - they've got a Kids Club too (just for you)!

I don't think we'd get our caravan over the Hardknott and Wrynose passes either!! SCAREY!!

The last time we went over there we were on our honeymoon - 7 yrs ago - and the brakes on our old Cav were getting VERY hot and weren't working as well as they should have been!! Suffice to say we made a hasty retreat back to Ambleside! Shame cos I wanted to show hubby just how hauntng Wast Water can be on a dull day! :icecube:

Sidetable - Thats just wot we're after. I've just rung to book it now and they've only got a pitch near the toilet block - so I said I'll take a look at the site map when they send it to me and see how close it actually is. I've got a thing about being too close to toilet blocks!:goofylook Do you know if the site goes down to the edge of the lake and is it suitable to swim/sunbathe there?

Cheers,

Rachel
