Went in 94 & 96 so well out of date, but back then our bikes ran fine on pumped unleaded all the time. Longest haul between fuel was 150miles. Never needed a jerry can or to buy from the side of the road. IIRC Michelin maps show fuel in towns as an 'x' on the map. I guess the situation will be even better now.

Hi

when we used to go to morrocco in the overland trucks we could get good clean diesel in most places and if you did get to a garage and wenrnt sure on how clean the diesel is then just do what i used to do and carry a 2 ltre plastic see through water bottle and get them to pump a litre of diesel in it and wait for a few minutes to let it settle and have a good look, if there is loads of crap and water then you only have to pay for the 1 litre of dirty diesel and not a full tank and a new set of new diesel filters. ;)

Hope this helps.

I've just come back from Morocco in my Tdi 300 Disco and I can tell you that diesel & petrol are freely available just about everywhere, we never felt in any way concerned about availability.

Re diesel there are two types: std diesel at 7.2 MAD (Moroccan Dhirim) per litre - approx 0.65 euros; and diesel 350 at 10.3 MAD - this is marketed as a superior diesel for more modern engines, giving better mpg - well it bloody well needs to !!!!!

The locals all think it's bull**** marketing and it has been, apparently, a complete flop.

We ran our Tdi on std stuff and she ran beautifully, no probs, no smoke, bags of power.

Pays yer money & takes yer choice

Cheers
Dave

Diesel plentiful and cheap (40p ish per litre) and cheaper the further south you go. Gd quality. On garage i stopped at near Erfoud, had were really welcoming and showed us pics of the camel racers that stopped at his garage. Afriquia (sp?) very common along route we took, also sold drinks and ice cream and took visa.
